PsySchoten – self-support group for psychosis persons at risk in Thuringia

Region: Jena

We are a self-help group founded in 2021 and are looking for interested people / members who have a predisposition for psychoses or have already had a corresponding diagnosis (the latter a form of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder). Unfortunately, people affected by these diagnoses still have to deal with strong prejudices towards them. We would like to show that these fears are unfounded with good treatment - not only based on medication - and an adapted lifestyle, and that a satisfying and meaningful life is possible even with these diagnoses.

Our group is about the equal exchange of affected people regarding coping strategies, medication and experiences. Personally, I enjoyed talking about the biographical backgrounds of those affected and believe that others feel the same way. I am Frank, born 1982 in Jena and founder of the SHG, have an official education and training as a systems engineer for IT - networks, but deal at least since my diagnosis with high-functioning autism spectrum disorder (hfASD) in 2012 and schizophrenic psychosis in 2016 almost only with mental as well as physical health. I want to support others but also continue to learn from fellow sufferers and I look forward to hearing from you.
