Federal Association Scoliosis Self-Help e. V.

Disease profile

  • Foundation: In 1971, the “non-profit relief association for children and adults suffering from scoliosis” was founded. In view of the other diseases of the spine that are increasingly observed today, the association has had the addition “Interessengemeinschaft Wirbelsäulengeschädigter” since 1987.
    (Scoliosis - lateral spinal curvature).

After many years of research, it is now possible to straighten curved spines and effectively counteract other spinal damage, such as wear diseases, inflammatory diseases, tumors.

Goals and tasks

The main concern of the association is to raise awareness about possibilities of early detection and treatment. Scoliosis no longer has to go untreated. Children with a crooked back do not necessarily have to become “hunchbacked adults”.

The national association provides information about treatment options by qualified specialists and in special treatment centers. Above all, it seeks contact with parents, teachers, doctors and physiotherapists in order to find and apply suitable measures for early diagnosis.

A scientific advisory board, composed of specialists in the field of spinal therapy, is integrated into the federal association and supports all those seeking advice on medical problems.

For our members we offer the following activities:

  • Contact points in the whole federal territory
  • Free member magazine
  • Annual general meeting.
