Goals and tasks

  • Supporting members in coping with illness-related problems and in developing new life strategies to compensate for the increasing deterioration (post-polio syndrome)
    Contacts and information among the members
  • Communication of new scientific findings about the late effects of polio to physicians, physiotherapists and affected persons as well as to pension offices and health insurance companies
  • Providing addresses of physicians and physiotherapists who deal with the disease pattern
  • Cooperation with polio self-help groups in other cities and with the Bundesverband Polio e. V. (German Polio Association)
  • Educating the public about the need for preventive care (polio vaccination).
  • Target group: People who have had polio (poliomyelitis) and their relatives.

  • Usually every first Tuesday every eight weeks
