German association for people suffering muscle problems e. V.

Region: Überregional

The German Muscle Society is the largest self-help organization for people with neuromuscular diseases in Germany. Advice and information for those affected and their relatives are just as important to us as promoting research into the many different muscle diseases and representing muscle patients in health policy.

Disease profile

By muscle diseases we understand all neuromuscular diseases. According to a classification by Walton, there are 800 forms. The vernacular calls them muscle atrophy and thus describes an essential sign of disease that occurs in these very different diseases. This symptom can be limited to a few muscle groups or, depending on the form of the disease, can affect the entire musculature.
