28th Jena Self-Help Day

Trialog Booth Self-Help Day 2024

This day of action offered an important platform for the exchange and networking of self-help groups, those affected, relatives and specialists from the health and social sectors.

30 self-help groups and counseling and support services presented their work on 5 June from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and provided insights into their activities and support services. Among the exhibitors were the self-help groups for Parkinson's disease, fibromyalgia, adult siblings of people with disabilities and the Jena Trialog. The Towanda Women's Center, the Center for Mental Health, Blickpunkt Auge and the association Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe e.V. were on site to present their support services.

The spacious entrance hall of the University Hospital provided the ideal setting for the self-help day. Patients, professionals from the hospital, experts from the social sector and curious and interested people were able to obtain detailed information about community self-help at the numerous information stands, make new contacts and exchange information about current developments in self-help work.

The self-help groups in Jena cover a wide range of topics in the areas of chronic illnesses, disabilities, mental illnesses, addiction and social issues and are aimed at those affected themselves or their relatives. The contacts and contact persons of the self-help groups deserve our heartfelt thanks for their donated time as volunteers and their tireless work in the self-help groups.  Without them, many people would be lonelier and more isolated and our society would be poorer.

The 28th Jena Self-Help Day was a complete success and once again underlined the importance of self-help groups as a valuable resource for those affected and their families in our city. We would like to say  “Thank you“ to everyone who contributed to the success of this day and are already looking forward to next year's Self-Help Day.
